CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The community is stepping in to help an orphanage in Concord that’s full and having to turn children away after taking in kids following Hurricane Helene. The hurricane also put a strain on resources at the Church of God Children’s Home, and the community is planning a drive and asking for volunteers to help the orphanage. “If it looks nice and it looks homey, that’s what we want,” said Ella Pepper, the communications and activities director at Church of God Children’s Home.
