(KRON) -- After receiving more than 35,000 public comments, the National Park Service announced Monday that it would remove the controversial tule elk enclosure fence at Point Reyes National Seashore as part of its finalized management plan for Tomales Point. The final Tomales Point Area Plan, which has been in development with civic engagement since the spring of 2022, calls for the removal of 2.2 miles of tule elk enclosure fencing. Additionally, all temporary water systems and mineral resources that were installed during the most recent drought will be removed.
