Sonora, CA — Stanislaus National Forest fire officials today announced the lifting of the closure area for the 316-acre Peak Fire that ignited near Herring Creek outside of Pinecrest on October 2nd. Forest officials issued Forest Order STF-16-2024-11 on Oct. 1, which limited access to forest lands, roads, and trails to ensure public safety and support firefighting efforts. The order was also an effort to protect the public from any hazards caused by the blaze and restricted access to Herring Creek and Hammill Canyon Loop.
