Chelsea and Nottingham Forest concluded in a 1-1 draw, reflecting the competitive nature of English football. Nottingham Forest initially took the lead in the 50th minute with a goal from Chris Wood, capitalizing on Chelsea's defensive lapses. However, Chelsea responded swiftly, equalizing just six minutes later through Noni Madueke. This exchange of goals underscores the dynamic nature of the game and highlights both teams' tactical approaches—Chelsea's emphasis on possession contrasted sharply with Forest's robust defensive strategy.
Nottingham Forest had to withstand some late Chelsea pressure to secure a point on their travels and enter the October international break in the top half of the Premier League table.
Chris Wood scored another away goal – his 10th in the Premier League on the road since the start of last season – to open the scoring for Forest after 49 minutes, but Chelsea were able to hit back quickly thanks to Noni Madueke’s strike past Matz Sels.
Robert Sánchez in the 100th minute of the match.
Chelsea responded well, and Madueke equalized less than ten minutes later, finding reward for his endeavor and positive play. We pressed for a quick second, but were not able to do so despite a flurry of chances, most of them falling to Madueke again.
James Ward-Prowse picked up a most blatant second yellow in the 78th minute, but that didn’t really change much since Forest already had ten men packed in their box at all times.
Things kicked off after a late challenge from Williams on Cucurella out of bounds, but we settled back in for 13(!) minutes of stoppage time (half of that coming from Gibbs-White’s injury and treatment that took six minutes).
The one-on-one defending of Ola Aina was exceptional, the two centre-backs Milenkovic and Murilo are two of the most physically imposing in the league and Sels has solved the goalkeeping problems since promotion.
Between them, they managed to handle Ward-Prowse's red card in a masterclass of defending, wasting time and counter-attacking football that led to Williams and Jota Silva going close.
