(KRON) -- An Oakland man who was arrested in August in connection to a homicide in Berkeley died Tuesday while in custody, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said Steve Addison, 57, had a history of severe medical conditions. On Monday at around 1:50 a.m., a sheriff’s deputy conducting a routine observation check at the Santa Rita Jail saw Addison experiencing a medical emergency, officials said. Addison was having trouble breathing and speaking. Addison was brought to the trauma room with assistance from deputies and medical partner Wellpath before being transported to a local hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.
