Rebecca Ann Gregory Butler Rebecca Ann Gregory Butler, 82, of the Rome community, left this earth for her heavenly home on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024. Ann was born in Smith County on April 13, 1942, to the late Holland and Thelma Thompson Gregory. At a young age, she dedicated her life to the Lord at Plunkett’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, the late J.D. Butler, on May 31, 1958. Together, they ran Rock City Truck Stop in Smith County, City Café in Hartsville, 231 Crossroads in Castalian Springs, and Cloverland and Four Winds Truck Stop in Lebanon. In total, the couple was in the restaurant business for more than three decades prior to J.D.’s passing
