The 2025 Commonwealth Short Story Prize, which is now open for submissions, will see Malaysian writer Saras Manickam serving as one of the judges alongside four other writers from the Commonwealth region. Saras’s story My Mother Pattu won the regional prize for Asia in the 2019 Commonwealth Short Story Contest. It was published by Penguin Random House (Southeast Asia) and this year, it was recognised by PEN Malaysia as one of the most significant books written by a Malaysian.
