CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A homicide investigation is underway after an elderly woman died from her injuries following an apartment fire that was intentionally set, CMPD announced. The fire happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at an apartment complex located in the 1600 block of Sharon Road West. At the time of the fire, Lorna Joy Roth, 82, was transported to Atrium Health Main for treatment of her injuries. On Tuesday, Aug. 6, she passed away, CMPD said.
