Roughriders secured a decisive 19-9 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a thrilling match-up that showcased their dominance on both sides of the ball. This win not only solidified their position as a top contender in the Canadian Football League, but also highlighted their ability to execute strategic plays and capitalize on key opportunities.

From the opening kickoff, it was clear that the Roughriders were determined to control the tempo of the game. Their offense displayed precision passing and effective running plays, allowing them to consistently move down the field and put points on the board. Quarterback Cody Fajardo's leadership and decision-making were instrumental in guiding his team to success, while running back William Powell's impressive rushing yards kept the Blue Bombers' defense on their toes.

Outside of the Labour Day weekend game, where special things tend to happen for the Riders, their rivals to the east have won just about every game that matters and have done so with general ease.

Winnipeg had employed many times before.

While Patterson was at Michigan, the Head Coach was Jim Harbaugh — who became the Los Angeles Chargers’ field boss shortly after celebrating a 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship.

“I love that guy,” Patterson said. “He’s a proven winner, just like Coach Mace.”

With Patterson behind centre, Michigan posted records of 10-3 and 9-4.

“From a professional standpoint and learning a lot about the game and learning a lot about how to be a pro and your approach on a day-to-day basis, he was huge,” Patterson said of Harbaugh on Thursday.

“He had an NFL staff both years that I was there, so I got to see the ins and outs of preparation and what it takes to win.

Patterson who was trying to run out the clock. The Riders took exception to the hit, which was right in front of their bench, and confronted Bighill. The Bombers then ran onto the field as well.

Both teams struggled to move the ball in the first half with the only scoring coming from the kickers. Castillo was successful from 35 and 56 yards, while Lauther hit from 28 and 41 yards. Castillo was short on a 61-yard field goal attempt late in the second quarter.
