YORK COUNTY, SC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Queen City News is your local election headquarters. Polls have closed in York County for the GOP Primary Runoff Election for Sheriff. Two candidates are left from the June 11 primary. Michael Belk and Tony Breeden remain. Belk is currently Rock Hill's deputy chief of police. Breeden is a retired Rock Hill police lieutenant. Each candidate received more than 25% of the vote, but neither had the majority needed to avoid a runoff. Tuesday's winner will likely become sheriff in January, as no Democrats or other candidates have filed paperwork to run for the office. The polls close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25.
