An 84-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck Monday at a shopping complex in Hita, Oita Prefecture, police said. Hatsumi Hino was rushed to a hospital after a witness reported to police that a person had been stabbed at around 11:25 a.m. She was confirmed dead at the hospital around an hour later. A man, whose address and employment status were unknown, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. Police have not disclosed whether the man admitted to the charge or not. The shopping complex is located approximately 200 meters south of the city’s Hita Station.
