Historian and author Sean Posey will speak on the Black Hand for the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society’s Memories of a Lifetime series. The Black Hand was a commonly known and feared symbol of organized crime. Posey is the author “Lost Youngstown,” “The Hidden History of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley” and “Historic Theaters of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley.” His work has been featured by The New Republic, CityLab and Salon. He will speak at 10 a.m. April 20 at Denny’s Restaurant meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for nonmembers.
