La Liga: Barcelona 1-0 Mallorca

Sport by : (PRESSBEE) -

In a thrilling match between Barcelona and Mallorca, the Catalan giants emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win. The game was filled with tension and excitement as both teams fought fiercely for dominance on the pitch.

Barcelona's star player Lionel Messi once again proved his worth by scoring the only goal of the match, showcasing his exceptional skill and talent. Mallorca put up a strong defense, but they were unable to stop Messi from finding the back of the net.

Lamine Yamal curled in a second-half goal to grab Barcelona a 1-0 win over Mallorca at home on Friday, lifting the defending Spanish league champions into second place.

Yamal’s exquisite shot from just inside the corner of the area for the 73rd-minute goal salvaged an otherwise lackluster Barcelona from a second straight draw.

Mallorca, currently in 15th place in La Liga, secured a huge 1-0 victory over second-placed Girona. Mallorca’s Copete scored the lone goal in the 33-minute mark that sealed the win for his side. Mallorca’s big win is a message to Barcelona that they should not be overlooked.

The other standout player for Barcelona was 17-year-old center back Pau Cubrasí, who excelled again with his defending and passing.

"Cubarsí is intelligent. He knows when to go in for the challenge or not," Barça boss Xavi Hernandez said afterward. "He didn't lose a single duel. Spectacular.

"The way he plays the ball out from the back as well, finding the free man ... he doesn't seem like a 17-year-old. Today he has in front of him two powerful strikers [Vedat Muriqi and Cyle Larin) and he did an amazing game. He is playing like a captain. It's amazing, the personality he shows for the team, I think it's spectacular today."

Pedri González and Frenkie de Jong after they were injured in the previous round’s scoreless draw at Athletic Bilbao.

Coach Xavi Hernández kept Robert Lewadowski on the bench until the final half hour, resting him before Tuesday’s Champions League match against Napoli to see which advances to the quarterfinals. Their first game in Italy ended 1-1.

Mallorca, which will play Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final next month, was left in 15th place.
