Still, her victory in Vermont demonstrated once again how deeply unpopular Trump is in the state. In the 2020 general election, he won just 31% of the vote and in the 2016 election 30%.
 As Haley prepares to face off against her Democratic opponent in the general election, supporters are confident that she will continue to inspire and lead with integrity. With this important win under her belt, Nikki Haley is well on her way to making history once again.
Vermont could give a fresh lease of life to Ms Haley's longshot campaign, or whether it will be her last stand.
Speculation has been mounting in recent days that she may soon drop out as Mr Trump's last remaining challenger. The former president looked set to win the 14 other states that voted on Tuesday.
Ms Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, told Fox News on Tuesday morning she had not yet made a decision about her future.
The Haley campaign said there was nothing on her calendar for Wednesday.
