The recent shooting of a 15-year-old near Six Flags Over Georgia has once again brought the issue of police brutality to the forefront of public discourse. The incident, which occurred during a routine traffic stop, has sparked outrage and calls for justice from community members and activists alike.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the deep-rooted issues within law enforcement that continue to plague our society. The use of excessive force by police officers, particularly against young people of color, is a disturbing trend that must be addressed with urgency.

Cobb police said one suspect was hit when officers returned fire. The injured person, identified by the GBI on Sunday as a 15-year-old boy, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

The shooting erupted around 6:15 p.m. Saturday on a service road just off the 290-acre theme park's property in Austell, about 17 miles northwest of Atlanta, according to the Cobb County Police Department.

Social media footage obtained Atlanta captured nearly a dozen people kicking and punching a person on the ground before several ran away, leaving the beaten-up individual lying motionless.

Six Flags park officials responded saying: "A few years ago we moved from manual bag checks to Evolv, an advanced security screen system that represents hands off screening technology to detect metals or any other unauthorized objects."

Evolv is the same technology used by a number of school systems in metro Atlanta, and even bigger venues, like Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The statement from Six Flags officials also said, "it is crucial to emphasize that we prioritize safety."

Georgia led to the groups being removed from the park.
