A crash along a rural road in western Orange County killed two people, who were reportedly high schoolers, late Thursday night. The North Carolina Highway Patrol shared a release saying it responded to reports of a crash on Oak Grove Church Road near Chipmunk Lane at 9:25 p.m. — an area south of the Buckhorn community and north of Cane Creek Reservoir. Upon arrival, investigators found two occupants in a crashed Subaru that caught fire after striking a tree on the north side of the road. Neither people survived, according to Friday’s release.
