A Ukiah man was arrested on suspicion of illegally possessing both a loaded firearm and a controlled substance Wednesday after being seen driving erratically by an officer, the Ukiah Police Department reported. According to the UPD, an officer observed a pickup truck “driving erratically in the 600 block of North Orchard Avenue” around 10 a.m. Feb. 7, and initiated a traffic stop when the vehicle pulled into the parking lot near Ross in the Pear Tree Center. After the “pickup came to a stop in the middle of the parking lot, the driver – later identified as Jessie Edward Slotte, 38, of Ukiah – rapidly exited the vehicle and began berating the UPD Sergeant.
