Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes II, being arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) in Texas has sparked a heated debate on the consequences of irresponsible behavior and the impact it can have on one's personal and professional life.

However, when individuals hold influential positions or are closely associated with public figures, their actions can have far-reaching consequences. As a role model for his son and a member of the community, Patrick Mahomes Sr.'s arrest raises concerns about his ability to make responsible decisions.
Mahomes Sr. was charged in April 2018 with "driving while intoxicated 2nd," and charged again in 2019 for "driving while intoxicated 2nd."
Kansas City Chiefs were set to depart for Las Vegas for Super Bowl 58.
Those same jail records show Mahomes Sr. was arrested for a second DUI offense back in 2018.
The bond for this arrest was not listed on the jail website.
Mahomes did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
He was also arrested on a DWI charge in 2018. The following year Mahomes Sr. was sentenced to 40 days of jail time that would be served on weekends, according to Smith County, Texas, court records. 
Mahomes Sr. is the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 11.
He also earned himself a spot in the Sioux Falls Canaries Hall of Fame, and he is currently the host of The Big Mahomes Show, a weekly podcast that "pulls the curtain back on professional sports with coverage of all things sports," according to the series' Instagram page.
Mahomes Sr. shares sons Mahomes Jr. and Jackson Mahomes with ex-wife Randi Martin. He is also dad to Zoe Mahomes, his daughter from a relationship following his split with Martin.
The divorced pair are grandparents to Mahomes Jr.'s two children, whom he shares with wife Brittany Mahomes: daughter Sterling Skye Mahomes and son Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III.
