True Detective has become a cultural phenomenon since its debut in 2014, captivating audiences with its gripping storytelling and complex characters. The highly anticipated fourth season of the anthology series does not disappoint, delivering another enthralling narrative that explores the depths of human nature.
Set in a small town plagued by mysterious disappearances, Season 4 follows two detectives as they unravel a web of secrets and deceit. The show's signature dark and brooding atmosphere is masterfully maintained throughout, creating an eerie backdrop for the unfolding drama.
The episode introduces us to the complex character of Wayne Hays, portrayed brilliantly by Mahershala Ali. Hays is a seasoned detective haunted by a case from his past, known as the Purcell case. As the narrative unfolds, we are transported between three different time periods: 1980, 1990, and 2015. This non-linear storytelling adds depth and intrigue to an already compelling storyline.

Danvers is as grumpy as they come but clearly smart and capable, and it’s fun to see Foster return to a law enforcement role. (If nothing else, I now realize it’s been too long since I’ve seen The Silence Of The Lambs).
