The Palisades Tahoe ski resort near Lake Tahoe is closed Wednesday following an avalanche that happened amid a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra.
The resort announced that an avalanche occurred on the Palisades side, specifically above the GS gully area of the KT-22 lift around 9:30 a.m.
No one else has been reported missing, the sheriff's office said. Smith said that all search efforts have concluded and that there is "nobody else up on the mountain as a result of the avalanche."

Two others were caught in the snow slide, Gross said: One was "extracted" by her partner, and the other was "assisted" by other guests.
The cause of the avalanche is under investigation, officials said. It happened as a powerful storm was expected to bring as much as 2 feet (61 centimeters) of snow to the highest elevations by early Thursday.
Palisades, the site for the 1960 Winter Olympics, is on the western side of Lake Tahoe, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) from Reno, Nevada. Winds at the top of Palisades resort (8,000 feet) were gusting between 31 mph and 38 mph at the time of the avalanche
“This is a very sad day for my team and everyone here,” Dee Byrne, president of Palisades Tahoe, said at the news conference.
The resort's ski patrol had done avalanche control assessments since Sunday to prepare for Wednesday's opening, which was the first day of the season, according to Michael Gross, vice president of mountain operations.
“They’ve been up there doing control work, evaluating weather conditions, setting up all safety markings, hazard markings, et cetera, to get them prepared for today’s opening,” Gross said at the news conference.
The cause of the avalanche is still under investigation, according to Byrne.
