The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating the death of a woman after she was found unconscious along a road southwest of Pittsboro early Monday morning. A release from the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a report in the 7700 block of NC 902 “concerning the well-being of a person found on the road.” The call came at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Monday. Emergency responders found an unconscious female and transported her to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. She was later pronounced dead.
