Miami Dolphins vs. Washington Commanders 45-15

Sport by : (PRESSBEE) -

Miami jumped out to a 31-7 halftime lead and eventually came away with a 45-15 victory over the Washington Commanders Sunday afternoon at FedExField.

Hill finished with five receptions for 157 yards (31.4 avg.) as the Dolphins moved to 9-3 for the first time since 2001.

Running back De’Von Achane added 73 rushing yards and two touchdowns while linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel totaled five tackles (four solo), two passes defensed and a pick-six in his first start since Week 7.

A year after losing five in a row once the calendar flipped to December, Tua Tagovailoa and Co. are determined to avoid another late-season swoon. This was a good start.

Brian Robinson got off to a hot start with 53 rushing yards on seven carries before leaving late in the first half with a hamstring injury. Both Washington touchdowns came on Sam Howell rushes, with one a very nifty 13-yard scramble on fourth-and-3 in the red zone. Overall, the Commanders offense struggled mightily, with Howell completing just 12-of-23 passes on the day.

Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane was the recipient of a fourth-down goal-line carry with less than two minutes to go and Miami up 38-15, which was certainly unnecessary, but it still made those with Achane on their fantasy football rosters pleased, as he scored his second touchdown of the day. Achane finished the day with 73 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to go along with three receptions for 30 yards.

Commanders rookie running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. took over the No. 2 role with Brian Robinson out with an injury, racking up 29 rushing yards on seven carries. Second-round defensive back Jartavius Martin tallied five solo tackles, including a tackle for loss.

Dolphins will be the Tennessee Titans followed by the New York Jets, and they could clinch that division title with two victories combined with a loss by Buffalo either next week at Kansas City or the following week against the Dallas Cowboys.
