New Delhi: India’s retail inflation eased to a 5-month low of 4.87 per cent in October bringing much-needed relief to consumers, according to figures released by the National Statistics Office on Monday. Sequentially, too, the inflation rate is lower than the corresponding figure of 5.02 per cent recorded in September. There was a decline in fuel prices compared to the previous year as the government has reduced LPG prices in the run-up to key assembly elections in states which will be followed by the Lok Sabha polls in the first half of next year.
