Smith County Agriculture News – By Katie Martin, Smith County Extension Agent Kyle Owen has represented our county and our state well this year as Tennessee’s Farmer of the Year. On October 16th and 17th, he had the opportunity to meet with nine other Southeastern State Farmer of the Year winners as they all competed for the title of Sunbelt Ag Expo Southeastern Farmer of the Year. This is the thirty-third year for the Southeastern Farmer of the Year award. It recognizes excellence in agricultural production and farm management along with leadership in farm and community organizations.
