Shooting at State Fair of Texas

Cultural by : (PRESSBEE) -

Texas on Saturday night in Dallas, police said.

A suspect who ran away was captured by officers and taken into custody, along with a gun that might have been used in the attack, said Dallas Police Department Sr. Cpl. Melinda Gutierrez.

Exact conditions for the injured were unavailable.

The attack prompted authorities and organizers to evacuate Dallas' Fair Park, southeast of downtown, on the kind of busy weekend night that can draw more than 100,000 fairgoers.

Gutierrez said the suspect ran from the scene but officers were able to locate him and take him into custody. Police recovered a gun.

Dallas City Council member Adam Bazaldua said the shooting took place at the food court. That's located in the Tower Building.

“(The shooting) sparked from a conflict between two people who knew each other,” Bazaldua wrote.

Theresa Creevy was at the State Fair with her husband, two daughters and mother. They were walking out of one of the exhibition halls near the midway when they saw people running toward them. Some of them yelled there was a shooter and that they should hide.

Texas,

The shooting happened near the food court just before 8 p.m. Saturday.

Police said one man shot at another man. Three people were shot with non-life-threatening injuries.

A new rule was instituted for this year's fair to turn away minors at the fair's entrance after 5 p.m. unless they are accompanied by someone 21 years old or older.

The move came a year after teenagers caused a panic at the fair by running through the park, yelling about a hoax shooting. Social media trends have increasingly encouraged similar, bad behavior in public.

Fair sources have told WFAA in regards to the Saturday night shooting that that two people were shot, but no one was killed, and that one of three possible suspects is in custody.

Dallas District 7 City Councilmember Adam Bazaldua said in a tweet that he was told the conflict was sparked between two people who knew each other.
