Wheel of Fortune” next year, but his longtime co-host Vanna White is sticking around for the time being.
In a news release sent to CNN on Tuesday, a representative for Sony Pictures Studios – the studio that produces “Wheel” – confirmed that White has extended her contract for two years and that she’ll remain on the show through the 2025-2026 season.
White will continue to flip the letters on the famous wordplay game show as it goes through a major transition next year, when Sajak takes his final spin as host and Ryan Seacrest steps in to take his place.
Kelly Rippa, co-host of "Live with Kelly and Mark" teased Seacrest that hosting duties on "Wheel" should help his difficult-to-decipher spelling and texting.
"This is the best show for you," Rippa told Seacrest in a show that aired this week. "You are finally able to spell words and therefore we will be able to decipher what your text messages are trying to tell us."
California Teachers of the Year, filled in for White for five episodes.
The taping from which White was absent was for the game show's annual "Teacher's Week," and production was not able to reschedule due to the participating teachers' schedules with the start of the school year. The following day's taping was rescheduled.
"Well, the time has come," he said in a statement to E! News on June 12. "I've decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It's been a wonderful ride, and I'll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all."
Sajak and White made their debut on the nightly version of the syndicated show together in 1983. And while Sajak has rarely missed a taping during his tenure, White has filled in for him on occasion. Once in 1996, she stepped in to host the bonus round when Sajak's laryngitis prevented him from doing so, and again in November 2019 when the 76-year-old stepped back from his hosting duties to recover from emergency intestinal surgery.
