A federal jury has awarded $100,000 to a Kentucky couple who sued former Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis after she refused to grant them a marriage license. David Ermold and David Moore were each awarded $50,000 Wednesday in a 2015 case brought against Davis, who spent five days in jail the same year for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Davis had argued that granting the marriage licenses would violate “God’s definition of marriage,” as well as her religious beliefs as a Christian.
