Ed Sheeran Cancels Las Vegas Concert due to logistical issues

Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran canceled his Las Vegas show at Allegiant Stadium Saturday less than an hour before the show was set to begin, according to a statement the artist made on Instagram.

Around 5:30 p.m. Sheeran posted to his Instagram stating in part, “I can’t believe I’m typing this but there’s been some challenges encountered during the load in of our Vegas show. It’s impossible to go forward with the show. I’m so sorry. I know everyone has travelled in for this and I wish I could change it.”

Fans expressed their disappointment following the announcement, but told 8 News Now that they understood that the situation was out of the artist’s hands.

Ed Sheeran announced on Instagram a postponement of his scheduled show Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium. The singer had to scrap the show abruptly due to logistical issues.

While apologizing to fans who traveled in from out of town, Sheeran announced his show would be rescheduled to Saturday, October 28, and all tickets from Saturday’s show would be honored on that date.

Thousands of attendees were observed waiting to enter the arena, with some being treated by emergency medical services for "heat-related issues."

The post continued, "I know everyone has traveled in for this, and I wish I could change it."

Sheeran confirmed that the show would be postponed to October 28, and all purchased tickets for Saturday's performance would be valid for that date.

Another person commented that the venue's actions were "irresponsible" and that EMTs were "carrying people out left and right."

Sheeran expressed his apologies in his statement:

"I’m so sorry. I know everyone has travelled in for this and I wish I could change it. The gig will be postponed to Saturday October 28th and all purchased tickets will be valid for that date. I’m so, so sorry x."

Allegiant Stadium is slated to host the Superbowl on Feb. 11, 2024.
