Eagles placed Myles Jack on the Reserve/Retired list Sunday. The veteran linebacker agreed to terms with the team two weeks earlier.
In two preseason games with the Eagles, Jack recorded five tackles in 52 defensive snaps, adding another four snaps on special teams. He and Zach Cunningham were both signed on the same day to add experience and depth to the linebacking corps.
UCLA, Jack spent the first six years of his career in Jacksonville, registering three 100-tackle seasons. His 615 total tackles with the Jaguars rank fifth in team history. He posted a fourth 100-tackle season with the Pittsburgh Steelers last year while starting 13 contests. All four of Jack's 100-tackle campaigns came in the last five seasons.
Budda Baker who convinced him to train for another opportunity in the NFL. The two were friends in high school and trained together in Scottsdale before Jack got a call.
The former UCLA defender was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Coming out of college, there were questions around the status of his knee, which was described to be impacted by a degenerative condition.
In six years with the Jaguars, Jack recorded three seasons with at least 100 tackles. He was released last offseason and led the Steelers in tackles last season with 104. Starting 95 games over seven seasons for the Jaguars and Steelers, he notched 617 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
Cunningham has since shot up the depth chart and has a chance to start opposite Nakobe Dean, while Jack fell out of the mix.
Jack, a two-way standout player at UCLA, was a second-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016. He started 95 games over seven seasons for the Jaguars and Steelers, posting 617 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
It was a longer and more productive career for Jack than many anticipated, with questions surrounding what was described as a degenerative knee condition coming out of college.
