Nashville and Inter Miami will be looking to win their first ever Leagues Cup title when they meet in the final of the tournament at Geodis Park on Sunday.
Nashville will be confident of winning silverware but Inter Miami will be buoyed by the presence of Lionel Messi. The Argentine superstar has scored nine goals in six games in the Leagues Cup, and he will be a major threat to Nashville's defence. They have won all their games since Messi's debut.
Here GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch, including TV channel, streaming details and more.
Inter Miami have never won a major trophy in their brief existence, and in just his seventh game with the club, Messi has the chance to deliver David Beckham that coveted first winner's medal.
Nashville SC will prove a worthy opponent, sporting one of the most exceptional all-around attacking stars in Hany Mukhtar, but thus far nobody has proven up to the challenge against Messi and the rest of the new-look Inter Miami side. Can Nashville stem the onrushing pink wave, or will the Inter Miami sensation sweep up yet another victim as they continue to bludgeon everyone in their way?
Miami Coach Tata Martino credited the new group of newcomers like Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, quickly gelling with the team.
"We had to incorporate a lot of new players but I'm very impressed how it came together,'' Martino said through a translator.
"I remember the first days (in charge),'' Martino continued. "We needed to do more trainings to give shape to the team and I was thinking, how convenient it is to move on in this tournament because we can take advantage of this month to play more. But after this month, we are champions.''
Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, but in the club's first-ever cup final, now is most certainly not the time. They all start, and will likely ride the full 90 minutes, or close to it, unless the scoreline is secure much earlier.
Franco Negri, and Ian Fray. Gregore could possibly return from his foot injury soon, but he will need to be built up to full match fitness, and has yet to appear in a match in any capacity. His return will be important as he will be a capable understudy for Busquets who, as mentioned, will eventually need his minutes managed.
