Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig will face off in the DFL Supercup on Saturday. The match will be played at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany and will be a rematch of the 2022 version of the tournament. Bayern beat Leipzig 5-3 last year to clinch their 10th Super Cup trophy and will be confident of a similar result this year as well.
Leipzig finished the 2022-23 Bundesliga season in third place, behind Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. They will be looking to avenge their defeat in last year's Super Cup but it will be difficult against a solid Bayern side.
The match is sure to be an entertaining one, as both teams have attacking players who can entertain and score goals.
England captain’s move from Tottenham was officially confirmed earlier today, completing a transfer worth at least £100m and signing a four-year contract in Munich.
Kane is expected to be eligible as Bayern look to win the Super Cup for the fourth season in a row, having appeared in this fixture every year since 2011.
With Bayern winning the Bundesliga again and Leipzig lifting the DFB-Pokal once more last season, it is a repeat of the Super Cup clash from 12 months ago, when Bayern came out on top with a thrilling 5-3 win.
This time it’s Thomas Tuchel in the dugout for the German giants and potentially Kane up front, with the 30-year-old eyeing the first trophy of his career.
Kane will have the chance to get his hands on silverware on his very first day as a Bayern player, with RB Leipzig his new side's opponents for the season curtain-raiser. You can watch the game on Sky Sports Football or stream it on the Sky Sports website and App, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
Bayern Munich almost lost the Bundesliga title because of RB Leipzig last season, suffering a crushing defeat that shocked fans and put the coach under major scrutiny. With those memories in mind, Thomas Tuchel will be well aware that he needs his team to come out of the gates firing on all cylinders.
