To the Editor: On Aug. 6, 1945, the USA dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, Japan.  Three days later, another, on Nagasaki.  I was born 8/6/45, so between the cake and the laughs, those events pop into mind. A lot has been written and said on this topic.  The pros and cons, should we have or shouldn’t we have, etc.  The factual truth is some 120,000 Japanese civilians died in Hiroshima, 90,000 in Nagasaki. The survivors and the land were poisoned, the cities annihilated. These were very effective bombs.  The thousands now in the hands of the U.S. and other world powers would be a lot more effective if they were used – good reason not to use them.  Yes, I know the litany:  we hav
