Two drivers were taken by air ambulance after a Monday crash on U.S. 6. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office responded to the three-vehicle crash at 1:50 p.m. Herman Schmenk, 87, Ottawa, was driving a 1996 Freightliner westbound on Route 6. He was hauling a trailer full of lime. Elizabeth Hamada, 52, Weston, was driving a 2014 Subaru Forester directly in front of Schmenk. She slowed to make a left turn onto Van Tassel Road and was rear-ended by the Freightliner. The Subaru was pushed across the center lane into oncoming traffic. Hamada was struck by Angela Stevens, 57, Napoleon, who was operating a 2010 Hyundai Tucson eastbound on Route 6. The three drivers were extricated by mechanical means. H
