Elton John has told a court that Kevin Spacey attended a charity ball at his home and stayed overnight after arriving by private jet.
The singer also quipped that he was always in a “mad rush” when leaving West End theatres, saying: “It could be the queen and I wouldn’t notice her.”
John, 76, was called as a defence witness in Spacey’s trial and gave evidence to Southwark crown court via video link from Monaco on Monday.
Spacey denies all charges including sexual assault and indecent assault against four men in their 20s and 30s between 2001 and 2013.
Chris Lemmon, the son of the late actor Jack Lemmon.
The 63-year-old has pleaded not guilty to 12 sexual offence charges against four men between 2001 and 2013.
Sir Elton appeared by video link from Monaco. He answered questions around whether Mr Spacey had ever attended the White Tie and Tiara Ball that the musician held every year at his home.
The singer said Mr Spacey attended in 2001. One of the actor's accusers had given evidence to say a sexual assault happened on route to the ball in 2002, which Spacey denies attending.
Speaking about the ball in 2001, Sir Elton said: "Yes, he came in white tie, and he came straight from a private jet. Yes, I don't think he'd wear white tie otherwise."
Previously, the court heard that Spacey had bought a red Mini at a charity auction during the party, with the actor telling jurors that it was “the most expensive Mini Cooper ever”.
Sir Elton, 76, said he remembered that Spacey stayed overnight at his home in Windsor after the event, adding: “I can’t remember him coming down after that.”
Rocket Man singer added: "That I don't remember but it's possible because it was his car and he was going somewhere else.
"I have no recollection of it."
Asked if Spacey visited their home again after the ball, Sir Elton said: "The night that he attended the ball, he stayed overnight at our house."
Pressed again on whether he had returned after the event, he added: "I can't remember him coming after that, no."
Sir Elton said he did not remember the arrangements for the Mini being moved from his house.
