Following up on your 17 July article about possible cancellation of the contract between Anthem Blue Cross and Adventist Healthcare, I phoned Anthem on 18 July to ask them what I should do. Brief answer, “Nothing.” Adventist will accept my Medicare payment, and Anthem will continue to pay what Medicare does not, “because Anthem is [my] secondary insurer, not my primary insurer.” My wife understands that reassurance. –Today, 19 July, I received a letter from Anthem, dated 15 July (before my phone call) whose second sentence reads: [BF]”Beginning July 18, 2022,Adventist Healthcare doctors and hospitals will no longer be in your plan’s network.
